With each battery replacement, we perform a complete internal cleaning of fans, radiators and case ventilation openings. This is important, because over time, dust accumulates, which compromises the optimal cooling of your MacBook. When there is a lot of internal dust, the Mac noticeably heats up and starts to work significantly slower – at a critically high temperature, the firmware on the motherboard purposefully reduces the performance of the processor to protect it from damage.

Unlike official services, we replace the battery itself as an individual spare part, without replacing the entire top case with the keyboard, which is not necessary and much more expensive. The price for replacing a MacBook battery at iRepair is half the price of replacing the entire top case, which is a service they would usually offer you.

Main symptoms that your MacBook battery has a problem and it’s time to replace it:

• A message appears on the battery icon: ‘Service Recommended’, ‘Replace Soon’ or ‘Replace Now’
• The battery discharges very quickly, even under light loads. In order to use your Mac normally, you must constantly keep it plugged to the charger
• The MacBook suddenly turns off without any warning, even when the battery icon shows that there is a remaining charge
• The battery cannot be charged at all and the MacBook works only when the charger is connected. In this case, the battery icon shows ‘Not Charging’, and when the charger is removed, the laptop turns off completely
• The MacBook works noticeably slower than you are used to. This happens when the battery cells are worn out and its capacity is significantly reduced compared to the nominal one required for the normal functionality of the laptop. The motherboard firmware intentionally reduces the performance of the MacBook, and therefore the battery power consumption, to prevent a complete shutdown
• Some models often experience battery swelling. The trackpad may become harder to press, the case may warp, and the MacBook may become unstable on a flat surface. Such physical deformation is dangerous and requires immediate removal of the defective battery and replacement with a new one
